The Highland County Board of Commissioners proclaimed April 2013 as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Highland County during their April 3 meeting, and urged all citizens to support the efforts of the Alternatives to Violence Center to raise awareness of sexual assault in Highland County.

On Wednesday, April 3, members of the Alternatives to Violence Center staff met with Commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeremy Shaffer, who signed a proclamation for the agency.

The proclamation helps to raise public awareness about sexual violence, support victims and encourage survivors to seek public services.
