COLUMBUS – State Senator Joe Uecker (R-Miami Township) this week was appointed by Senate President Larry Obhof to be chairman of the Senate Local Government, Public Safety and Veterans Affairs Committee.

The committee is charged with reviewing and vetting legislation affecting the safety of Ohioans, local governments, veterans and veteran organizations.

"I am honored that President Obhof and my Senate colleagues have put their faith in me to help shepherd this important committee," said Uecker. "As a former public administrator and former law-enforcement officer, I am confident that we will do everything we can to keep our streets safe, local governments running well, and ensure our nation's heroes are being taken care of."

In order to make hearings as accessible as possible, many committees are streamed live and archived on the Senate's website, which you can access by clicking here.

Additionally, Uecker will also serve as vice-chair of the Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review (JCARR) and the Transportation, Commerce and Workforce Committee; as well as serve on Government Oversight and Reform, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Finance Subcommittee on General Government and Agency Review.

Senator Uecker represents the 14th District in the Ohio Senate, which encompasses all of Adams, Brown, Clermont, and Scioto counties as well as a portion of Lawrence County.
