Ross County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott W. Nusbaum apologizes for Halloween costume

Ross County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott W. Nusbaum has apologized for a Halloween costume that he now admits was in poor taste.

The Chillicothe Gazette (see: http://www.chillicothegazette.com/article/20131115/NEWS01/311150007/Jud…) reports that Nusbaum could face disciplinary action from the Ohio Supreme Court Disciplinary Counsel for his choice of costume, which included blackface makeup.

Nusbaum apologized to the Ross County NAACP.

“It was a thoughtless, stupid and insensitive mistake that I deeply regret,” Nusbaum told the Chillicothe Gazette. “Although it was stupid, I certainly didn’t do it maliciously. I was born in this community, and I’m sorry I let my community down.”
 
Nusbaum was first elected to the court in 2006 and re-elected in 2012 to another six-year term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2018.
