Pvt. Nicholas Scott Moore to complete basic training Aug. 10

Pvt. Nicholas Scott Moore of Maysville, Ky., the son of Christa J. Moore of Maysville, Ky. and Jerry Shelton of Auxier, Ky., was inducted into the U.S. Army National Guard on his 17th birthday, Dec. 9, 2016.

Pvt. Moore trained in Morehead, Ky. one weekend each month throughout the remainder of his junior year of high school at Johnson Central. He reported for duty at Fort Jackson, S.C. on Memorial Day.



Following graduation from basic training on Aug. 10, Pvt. Moore will return to high school for his senior year, continuing monthly training. After high school graduation, he will continue in the National Guard full-time.

Pvt. Moore hopes to receive education and training in large machine maintenance and repair.

Joining his parents in wishing him well are his sister, Kasey Moore of Lexington, Ky.; brother, Noah Moore of Maysville; grandparents, Bob and Pamela Nickell of Hillsboro, Shirley Shelton of Auxier, Ky., JB and Herma Shelton of Johnson County, Ky. and Budge and Glema Moore of Turkey Creek, Ky.; as well as a host of other family and friends.
