Press Release-
State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) joined State Representative Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell) and area leaders for the grand opening of Vinton County's new supermarket, Campbell's Market. Prior to this week, Vinton County was the only county in Ohio that did not have a grocery store.

"It just did not seem right to have a food desert in such a prosperous and bountiful place like Ohio," Senator Peterson said. "I am honored to be a part of today's grand opening, and I now look forward to watching how the growth of local resources and new job opportunities improve the quality of life for area residents."

Home to over 13,000 Ohioans, Vinton County has had no grocery store since 2013, forcing residents to drive more than 60 minutes round-trip to stores in Athens, Chillicothe, Logan, Jackson or Wellston. After nearly four years with limited options, area residents can stop making unreasonably long drives to the grocery and begin shopping at the new Campbell's Market.

Senator Peterson, as well as Congressman Steve Stivers and Representative Smith, were instrumental in attracting the market to the area. Funds for this project were secured during the 131st General Assembly.
