OVI sobriety checkpoint planned in Hamilton County Aug. 21

The Cincinnati Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol announced today that troopers will conduct an OVI checkpoint in Hamilton County tomorrow evening.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

So far this year, there have been 5,535 OVI-related crashes on Ohio roadways. Of those crashes, 218 people were killed and 2,305 people were injured.

“Troopers have made 9,440 OVI arrests this year to combat these dangerous drivers. OVI checkpoints are designed to deter impaired driving and proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways,” said Lieutenant Nathan Stanfield, Cincinnati Post Commander.

The exact location of the checkpoint will be announced tomorrow morning, August 21.
