OSHP investigating fatal crash in Brown County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a three-vehicle fatal traffic crash.

The crash occurred on July 13 at approximately 5:14 p.m. on state Route 41 at Fishing Gut Road in Brown County.

According to the OSHP, a 1994 Pontiac Sunfire, operated by Mark Croswait, 48, of Hamersville, was northbound on state Route 41.

A 2002 International Truck, operated by Gary Millsaps, 56, of Lexington, Ky., was traveling southbound on Route 41.

The preliminary investigation indicates the Pontiac Sunfire operated by Mr. Croswait traveled left of center and struck the commercial truck operated by Mr. Millsaps.

Mr. Croswait’s vehicle was then struck by a 2002 Ford F-250 which was southbound and was being operated by Leonard J. Deatley, 43, of West Union.

A passenger in Mr. Croswait’s vehicle, Kenneth L. Wilson, 51, of Hamersville was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Brown County Coroner’s Office.

Mr. Croswait was transported by PHI Aircare to the University of Cincinnati Hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

Mr. Deatley was transported by Aberdeen EMS to Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville, Ky. with non-life threatening injuries.

Mr. Millsaps was not injured as a result of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Georgetown Post.
