Ohio State Fair begins Wednesday, July 24

The 160th Ohio State Fair is set to begin Wednesday, July 24 in Columbus.
The 160th state fair runs from July 24-Aug. 4.
Enjoy a variety of activities and exhibits including interactive educational displays, sporting competitions, a fine arts show, free stages with amazing hypnotists, impressive magicians and wholesome kids' entertainment, exotic animals in the free petting zoo, a farm animal delivery room, helicopter rides, roving performers, youth agricultural competitions, horse shows, an eight acre natural resources park with free kiddie fishing, wildlife and much more.
The Midway features more than 60 exhilarating rides sure to excite you, while Kiddieland is home to rides geared toward parents riding with small children.
In addition, there will be some 200 food vendors at this year's fair.
• Several city streets will close in preparation for the fair. The streets will close at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 21 and will re-open at 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5.
Streets closings:
* 17th Avenue from Clara Avenue on the east to Dora Avenue on the west;
* Velma Avenue from 17th Avenue on the south to Maynard Avenue on the north; and,
* Korbel Avenue from 17th Avenue on the south to 20th Avenue on the north Silver Drive extension.
State Fair officials also have announced that The Oak Ridge Boys, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers, and Crystal Gayle will perform at the WCOL Celeste Center on Friday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. Current ticket holders may use their current tickets for this show.
The Oak Ridge Boys will celebrate their 40th anniversary this year. The Gatlin Brothers have been pillars of country music since the 1970s with hits such as "Broken Lady" and "All the Gold in California." Crystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn’s younger sister, is set to perform some of her 20 number one country songs. Tickets are $30 and include Fair admission when purchased in advance.
