Ohio Corn & Wheat representatives join 2024 Corn Quality Rollout
Ohio Corn & Wheat (OCW) is pleased to report two successful trade missions by Patty Mann of Jackson Center, and Scott Haerr of Springfield, in cooperation with the U.S. Grains Council (USGC) and international corn buyers as part of the 2024 Corn Quality Rollout.
This program is taking United States corn producers to strategic international markets and sharing 2024 crop quality expectations. Representatives from nearly 20 countries attended, including Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Lebanon, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Kenya and Nigeria.
During these trade missions, both Mann and Haerr shared their expertise. Mann spoke on a panel about her farm operation and the practices her family uses. Buyers from these countries are deeply concerned about the sustainability and quality of the corn and asked questions regarding corn production sustainability practices.
“Buyers appreciate U.S. corn’s reliability,” Mann, member of the Ohio Corn Marketing Program (OCMP) board of directors, said. “Our supply is plentiful, and we love to provide them with a high-quality product.”
During his mission, Haerr gave a presentation to Japanese grain buyers, feed millers and government officials, where he shared detail on his farm’s management practices and information on his crop’s quality.
“As part of our discussions, we talked about global shipping issues, especially the Panama Canal,” said Haerr, member of the OCMP board of directors. “With our in-person attendance, we helped put a face on the product that the buyers use.”
