Margaret Triplett files to run for Brown County auditor

GEORGETOWN – Georgetown resident Margaret Triplett filed her petition to run for Brown County auditor in the May 8 Democratic primary on Friday, Feb. 2 at the Brown County Board of Elections,
Triplett has worked for the Dayton Power & Light Company for 37 years. She will be leaving the company’s employment when the electric generation plants close along the Ohio River this coming year. She is a 1981 graduate with honors from Morehead State University with a double major in Accounting and Computer Science. She also has Project Management Professional Certification.
At DP&L she worked in the Information Technology Department taking on projects at both JM Stuart Station, Killen Station and company-wide. She has worked with budgeting and purchasing, while also serving in various managerial roles.
“I believe my wide-range of experience and training would be a benefit in the county auditor's position,” said Triplett. “After 37 years with one company I hope to do something different and be able to serve my community.”
Triplett graduated from Symmes Valley High School in Lawrence County, Ohio, where she was valedictorian of her class. Growing up on the family farm, her family raised tobacco and small animals. She participated in 4-H and, later, was in ROTC in college.
She is married to the former publisher of The News Democrat and Ripley Bee, Steve Triplett. The couple's children, Zach and Rachel, are graduates of Georgetown Jr./Sr. High School and both reside in Georgetown. Triplett is an active member and Sunday school teacher at Georgetown United Methodist Church. She is also an avid baker.
