Lynchburg man arrested after search of residence

On March 28 at 9 a.m., the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls of chemical odor in the area of South Main St. in the village of Lynchburg.
Deputies and Detectives with the HCSO and the Lynchburg Police Department checked the area and found the odor to be coming from an upstairs apartment located at 182 South Main St. Deputies contacted the occupants of the apartment and subsequently searched the apartment after suspicions were raised that the manufacture of methamphetamine was occurring inside the apartment.

Upon the search of the apartment, several chemicals, compounds and materials used in the illegal manufacture of meth were located as well as a small amount of suspected methamphetamine. These items will be sent to the BCI Lab for further analysis and testing.
Detectives arrested Coby L. Voss, 37, of Lynchburg for one count of illegal assembly of chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree. He was taken to the Highland County Justice Center and will appear on March 29 in Hillsboro Municipal Court for arraignment. His bond is set at $70,000.
The case will be forwarded to the Highland County Prosecutor's Office for review and additional charges are possible upon presentation to the Grand Jury.
The Lynchburg Area Joint Fire and Ambulance District also assisted for safety reasons during the search of the residence.
