A Leesburg man charged with a third-degree felony charge of domestic violence pleaded guilty Friday afternoon to a bill of information on the charge and was sentenced to a year and a half in prison.

Brady Adams appeared in front of Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss Friday afternoon, where he entered the plea.

Adams appeared in court with his appointed counsel, J.D. Wagoner.

Adams waived prosecution by the indictment, and a bill of information was presented on the domestic violence charge. The charge stemmed from a Feb. 25 incident in which Adams "knowingly caused physical harm to … a household member."

Coss said that Adams faced similar charges in Highland and Clinton County Court cases from 2006 and 2009, along with other felonies and misdemeanors.

Coss said that the charge has a maximum prison sentence of 36 months, with a minimum of nine months, and a maximum fine of $10,000.

The state is recommending that Adams be sentenced to 18 months in prison.

When asked by Coss if the victim had been consulted on the plea, Highland County Prosecutor Anneka Collins stated that she spoke with the victim on March 15, who approved the recommended sentencing and did not seek restitution.

Coss accepted the state's recommendation and sentenced Adams to 18 months in prison, with credit for time served, along with mandatory post-release control for three years.

Coss also informed Adams that it would be "a waste of time" to file for judicial release.
