On May 20, at approximately 3 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call in reference to a theft in the 300 block of South West Street. Approximately $1,250 was taken in jewelry items. After further investigation, Ryan L. Wilson, 19, of Hillsboro was charged with theft.
On July 12 at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call in reference to a burglary in the 400 block of North East Street. Upon arrival, the officer found that television and several items of jewelry were missing from the residence. There were no signs of forced entry. The matter is still under investigation.
On July 13 at approximately 11:03 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call in reference to a fight at the Ye Old Tavern on Belfast Pike. Upon arrival, it was learned that two male subjects got into an altercation inside the establishment with a customer. The two males were asked to leave. Both males went outside but refused to leave and became disorderly. An employee then asked the subjects to leave again and was assaulted. Jeffrey P. Jones, 21, of Hillsboro, was arrested for criminal trespassing. Adam L. Taylor, 29, of Blanchester was arrested for assault.
On July 15, William Stodgel of Hillsboro, driving a 2000 Dodge, was traveling north on North High Street when he flailed to stop for a 1997 Chevrolet driven by Jeffrey Carmack of West Carrollton, Ohio. Stodgel struck the Carmack vehicle and was cited for assured clear distance ahead.
On July 15, David Hines reported to the department that sometime on July 13, someone had kicked the basement door open and attempted to remove cable wire, causing damage. The incident remains under investigation.

On July 16, Leroy Shaffer of Hillsboro, driving a 2002 Chevrolet, was traveling southbound on South West Street and did not see a 2012 Honda driven by Leah Sprague of Hillsboro. Shaffer backed and struck the Sprague vehicle, causing damage. Shaffer was cited for improper backing.

Brandon R. Retherford, 27, of Peebles, DUI and suspended license.
Kayle N. Houser, 35, of New Vienna, bench warrant.
Amanda M. Christ, 26, of Hillsboro, bench warrant.
Janelle Watkins, 27, of Hillsboro, disorderly conduct.
Jeremy Curtis, 25, of Hillsboro, disorderly conduct.
Margaret Aber of Hillsboro, failure to maintain control.
