Hillsboro man sentenced on felonious assault charge

A Hillsboro man pleaded guilty to one count of felonious assault in Highland County Common Pleas Court Thursday, July 5.
Ian Cluxton, 38, was arrested by the Hillsboro Police Department this spring when an individual was hospitalized after being shot with an arrow from a bow.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Cluxton to a definite determinate term of 24 months, with jail time credit for 120 days, after finding Cluxton guilty of felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and a forfeiture specification. Cluxton was represented by attorney Jacob D. Wagoner.
As previously reported in The Highland County Press, on March 8 at approximately 4 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department responded to a call in reference to a person being shot with an arrow from a bow. The victim was treated locally, then transported to Miami Valley Hospital in critical condition.
A Highland County grand jury returned an indictment May 1 charging Cluxton with two counts of felonious assault and one count of endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor, along with the forfeiture specification.
The case was placed on the inactive docket in June until Cluxton was found competent to stand trial.
