Hillsboro man sentenced on attempted robbery charge

A Hillsboro man was sentenced to two years in prison recently after pleading guilty to an amended charge of attempted robbery.

As previously reported, Larry L. Hutton, 29, was indicted by a Highland County grand jury in January and was charged with robbery, a second-degree felony, and aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty Feb. 18 to an amended count of attempted robbery, a third-degree felony, with the misdemeanor charge dismissed.

The original indictment alleged that on or about Dec. 10, Hutton “did, in attempting, or committing a theft offense … or in fleeing immediately after the attempt or offense, inflict, attempt to inflict or threaten to inflict physical harm” on a victim. 

After accepting Hutton’s guilty plea, Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Hutton to 24 months in prison, with jail time credit of 68 days. Hutton was additionally ordered to pay $1,253 in restitution to the victim.

Hutton is incarcerated in the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
