On Feb. 13 at 7:57 p.m., Hillsboro police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of East Main Street for reports of a suspicious vehicle.

The caller advised that the vehicle pulled into an empty lot and turned the headlights off and no one got out of the vehicle. Officers responded to check the vehicle due to the area having recent reports of thefts.

Contact was made with the vehicle, and officers found a female in the driver’s seat, along with a male subject lying down in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The male subject began to put his hands down his pants, at which point he was removed from the vehicle.

The male was found to be giving officers false identification, and once the male did identify himself, he then tried to flee on foot and failed to comply with officer commands before officers could subdue him and take him into custody.

The male was found to have approximately 3.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with a substantial amount of pseudoephedrine pills. The male was also found to have a bench warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of domestic violence.

The male was identified as Jacob T. Yost, 28, of Hillsboro. He was transported to the Highland County Justice Center on charges of obstruction of official business, illegal assembly of chemicals and possession of a controlled substance, along with the bench warrant for his arrest.
