Hillsboro Eagles donate to Highland County Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports that the Hillsboro F.O.E. Aerie 1161 recently made a donation to the Highland County Sheriff's Office's donations line item.
In June 2017, the Highland County Sheriff's Office had payment issued from its donations line item for the purchase of a drone, to be used throughout Highland County for search and rescue operations.
This donations line item is a fund completely made up from donations given by community members and businesses to the Highland County Sheriff's Office to be used at the sheriff's discretion.
The generous donation from the Eagles will help offset the cost of the drone.
The drone, will be equipped with FLIR (forward-looking infra-red radar).
Deputy Brandon Young of the Highland County Sheriff's Office successfully completed drone training recently and attained his FAA license in anticipation of the new drone unit. Young will be the main pilot.
Another deputy of the Highland County Sheriff's Office and a community member, both of whom are already experienced with drones, have expressed desire to dedicate their services toward usage of the drone.
Sheriff Barrera extends sincere thanks and appreciation to the Hillsboro F.O.E. 1161 for its donation, and also for the constant support and commitment to law enforcement and to the community displayed by the Eagles organization.
