Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 6-12, 2017 the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 223 911 calls, answered 168 requests for service, dispatched 117 fire and EMS runs, took 48 offense reports and investigated three traffic crashes.
On Nov. 8 at 5:47 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a citizen on Highland Trails West reporting an assault. The caller told deputies that her husband had been assaulted by her son and they wished to pursue charges. An offense report was taken and an arrest warrant for domestic violence has been filed on the suspect.
At 3:03 p.m. on Nov. 9, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a property owner on Custer Road in New Market Township reporting the theft of some hunting equipment. A deputy spoke to the victim and an offense report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
A citizen came to the Highland County Justice Center at 11:25 a.m. on Nov. 10 to file a theft report. The victim discovered a check had been stolen from her Larrick Road residence sometime in the previous few days. A deputy spoke to the complainant and an offense report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
At 6:14 a.m. on Nov. 12, a resident of the 13000 block of U.S. 62 called the Sheriff’s Office to report several of his vehicles were entered overnight and items had been taken. A deputy was dispatched to the scene to investigate. During the next several hours, other citizens along U.S. 62 called to report their vehicles and garages had been gone through as well. Everyone is reminded to always keep vehicles locked and valuables secured inside their homes.
