Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of May 1-7, 2017, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 242 911 calls, answered 134 requests for service, dispatched 99 fire and EMS runs, took 41 offense reports and investigated zero traffic crashes. 

Deputies responded to a trespassing complaint on Bottom Lane at 1:33 a.m. on May 1. The property owner called the Sheriff’s Office after hearing what sounded like a vehicle stuck in mud on his property. The area was checked but no vehicle was located.

A deputy is currently investigating a burglary that occurred at a Heathermoore Trail residence overnight on May 2. The complainant called the Sheriff’s Office at 3:33 a.m. after discovering a laptop computer, a tablet and other items missing from the home. It is believed the suspect entered while the family slept and left without being detected.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Pea Ridge Road at 7:12 a.m. on May 6. Deputies were dispatched to the scene where a 23-year-old female was arrested and charged with domestic menacing after making threats to harm a family member.

At 9:21 a.m. on May 6, a Dundee Drive resident called the Sheriff’s Office to report damage to her mailbox and an attempted burglary of her residence. A deputy was dispatched to the scene where a report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.
