Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Nov. 26-Dec. 2, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 277 911 calls, answered 146 requests for service, dispatched 146 fire and EMS runs, took 18 offense reports and investigated four traffic crashes.
On Nov. 26 at 11:07 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a silent panic alarm from a commercial property in Sinking Spring. A deputy responded to the scene and checked the business. Everything was found to be secure.
A citizen from the Rocky Fork Lake area came to the Highland County Justice Center at 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 30 to file an identity theft report. A deputy interviewed the victim and collected information for an offense report. The incident remains under investigation.
At 12 p.m. on Dec. 1, a property owner on Roundhead Road called the Sheriff’s Office to request a deputy check his residence. The caller, who was away from home at the time, was alerted to a suspicious person on the premise by a home security system. A deputy responded to the scene and found the intruder had been an employee of a parcel delivery service dropping off a package.
Deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Pausch Road at 4:01 a.m. on Dec. 2. A male and female were interviewed by officers, an incident report was taken, but no charges were filed. The parties agreed to separate for the remainder of the night.
