Sheriff Donnie Barrera reports for the week of Sept. 4-Sept. 10, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office received 229 911 calls, answered 149 requests for service, dispatched 106 fire and EMS runs, took 33 offense reports and investigated two traffic crashes.

On Sept. 6 at 9:20 a.m., a Rocky Fork Lake property owner called the Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. A deputy was dispatched to the scene to meet with the victim and take an offense report. The incident remains under investigation.

A citizen came to the Sheriff’s Office at 4:36 p.m. on Sept. 7 to report the theft of hunting equipment. A deputy spoke to the complainant and an offense report was taken. The incident remains under investigation.

A deputy is currently investigating a gasoline theft from an Allensburg business on Sept. 8 at 6:55 p.m. The suspect was a white male with medium long reddish hair. He left the scene eastbound in a maroon or burgundy colored four-door Blazer.

On Sept. 9 at 9:52 a.m., a female came to the Highland County Justice Center to speak with a deputy about a civil protection order violation. An investigation of this incident is still pending.

The Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on Church Street in the village of Highland at 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 10. A deputy and a Leesburg Police Department patrolled the area but found nothing out of the ordinary. Witnesses last saw the vehicle heading west on S.R. 28.
