Highland County Community Action Organization receives $1,000 donation from Shopko Foundation

Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. received a $1,000 donation on Tuesday, Nov. 19 from the Shopko Foundation to support the Senior Nutrition Program.
The Senior Nutrition Program is one of the many programs HCCAO provides. This program enables 60+ years of age or house bound seniors throughout Highland County to a home delivered meal daily each week. As of today that total is over 120 seniors who are utilizing this program.
For many seniors, the meal which they receive is the only meal they have that day. The driver who delivers the meals for some seniors may be the only visitor they see that day.
Julia Wise, Executive Director of HCCAO said, “The rising costs of food, gasoline, vehicle and facility maintenance and general operating increases have resulted in increased expenses. The organization has had to provide some supplemental funding to keep this program operational. This funding received from the Shopko Foundation will be dedicated towards continuing the operations of the Senior Nutrition Program.”
Shopko is pleased to recognize the good work and applauds HCCAO on their efforts to support the County.
Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. strives to empower individuals and families through opportunities and support to achieve their maximum potential.
