Hastings re-elected as Hillsboro mayor

Incumbent Republican Mayor Drew Hastings has won the race for Hillsboro mayor for a second consecutive term, according to unofficial polling results.

Unofficially, Hastings received 1,027 votes, while Democratic candidate Pam Limes received 705 votes.

Hastings was elected in 2011, defeating Independent candidate John Levo.

Frank Terwilliger was also unofficially reelected as the mayor of Mowrystown in a close race, defeating challenger and former Hillsboro City Council member Bonnie Parr. Terwilliger unofficially received 40 votes, while Parr unofficially received 35.

In other local mayoral races, unofficial results show incumbent Lynchburg mayor Gary T. Jones losing to Terry Burden.

Unofficially, Burden received 281 votes, while Jones received 74 votes. Tim Heizer received 121 votes.

Jones was elected in 2013, running unopposed after the retirement of former Lynchburg mayor Robbie Wallace.

The village of Leesburg also will have a new mayor, with Freddie Snyder unofficially winning with 151 votes over Leesburg village council member Wendy Holliday, who unofficially received 133 votes.

Snyder will replace current mayor Danny Daulton.

Henry Smith unofficially won the Highland village mayor's race, receiving 59 votes, while Jeremy Kibbey unofficially received 26.

Smith will replace current mayor Matthew Miller.
