Greenfield Police Department investigates two meth labs
On Sunday, July 28, 2013 at 1:42 p.m. Greenfield police officers responded to investigate a complaint of people trespassing at a vacant house in the 600 block of Dickey Avenue.
When the officers arrived, they located three subjects nearby, and while speaking with them one of the subjects took off running. Officers pursued the subject, who was identified, but he was able to elude capture.
One officer received minor injuries during the chase.
The two other subjects were detained and upon searching the vacant home, officers found a one pot meth lab in the basement. Paint Creek Joint EMS/Fire Dept. responded and officers neutralized and removed the meth lab.
Later the same day at 7:19 p.m., officers were investigating a parking complaint in the 600 block of Jefferson Street, when they noticed a strong odor of chemicals emitting from an open window of an apartment nearby.
Officers evacuated all of the apartments and obtained a search warrant and located a one pot meth lab inside.
Paint Creek EMS/Fire again responded for safety purposes and officers neutralized and removed the lab.
A person inside the apartment, Benjamin Kelly Stockton, 30, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for non-support and taken to the Greenfield jail.
Felony charges in both cases will be filed once the investigations are complete and the cases are presented to the Highland County grand jury.
