A Greenfield man was sentenced to prison recently after pleading guilty to strangulation.

Jean Estrada, 37, of Greenfield was indicted in January and charged with strangulation, a fourth-degree felony; and domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor.

According to court records, Estrada pleaded guilty to the strangulation charge two weeks later, with the misdemeanor count dismissed.

The indictment alleged that in November, Estrada “knowingly caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm” to a victim “by means of strangulation or suffocation.”

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Estrada to 11 months in prison, with jail time credit of 72 days.

Estrada is currently incarcerated in the North Central Correctional Institution, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.
