Greenfield hosts annual water fun day July 26

Greenfield will hold its fourth annual water fun day Friday, July 26 from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m, giving community children a chance to cool down in the summer sun.
Sponsored by Highland County Community Action Organization, the Paint Creek Joint EMS and Fire District and the Greenfield Water Department, with music by Jay Martin “Pokey” Post, this is the fourth year the event has been held in the village.
The HCCAO food program provides lunch to the estimated 100 children who turned out to run through the open hydrants and to be sprayed with water from the fire trucks.
Greenfield water plant operator Nathan Campbell said, "It's something we really love to do for the kids. Years ago, the fire departments used to open the hydrants, and this kind of grew from that. We would have liked to have done this earlier – when temperatures were in the 90s – but everyone was too busy."
Still, the Friday weather forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 83, so it should be a great day.
The water fun days are held at the corners of Lafayette and Fifth streets from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
