Orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Matrka will retire from active practice, effective Saturday, April 27, 2013, ending 33 years of service to the area.

“It has been my great pleasure to have practiced orthopaedic medicine in Clinton County as a member of the Clinton Memorial Hospital Medical Staff since 1980,” Dr. Matrka said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in private practice as well as my work in surgery at CMH and hope to stay connected with the medical community.”

Dr. Matrka’s patient records will remain in the office of Performance Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Suite 109, CMH Professional Building, 630 W. Main St., Wilmington.

His colleague since September of 2012, Dr. Michael Griesser, will maintain the practice and is available for any orthopaedic needs. “I have the greatest confidence in his orthopaedic expertise.” Dr. Matrka said. “You can expect excellent medicine, service and concerns about your treatment from Dr. Greisser and his support staff.”

Request for any patient records or appointments with Dr. Griesser can be made by calling 937.382.6951.

“Please let me or the staff know if you have any questions or concerns during this time of transition,” Dr. Matrka said.

“We wish Dr. Matrka well in his retirement,” said Mark Dooley, president and chief executive officer of CMH. “He has also been a devoted volunteer to the Clinton County Homeless Shelter and Habitat for Humanity and I expect he will continue to help out when he can.”
