DeWine appoints Patton to 11th District Court of Appeals

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Friday the appointment of Robert J. Patton to the 11th District Court of Appeals.

Patton, of Willowick, will assume office on June 5 and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Cynthia Westcott Rice, who was elected to the Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas. Patton will have to run for election in November 2024 to retain the seat for the remainder of the term expiring in February 2027.

Patton is currently Senior Litigation Counsel for the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. He previously served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office and has served on Willowick City Council since 2005 and as City Council President for the past 10 years.

Patton received a bachelor of arts from Cleveland State University in 1990, a master of arts from Cleveland State University in 1993 and a juris doctorate from the Cleveland State University College of Law in 1996.
