A Dayton woman was sentenced to community control recently after pleading guilty to charges in three separate cases in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

As previously reported, Nikki Brant, 26, was indicted in August 2024 and charged with aggravated possession of methamphetamine, a fifth-degree felony. She was again indicted in December on one count of failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony, in connection with the aforementioned case. In January, Brant was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

According to court records, Brant pleaded guilty to all three charges in February.

In the meth possession case, it is alleged that on or about June 7, 2024, Brant was a passenger in a vehicle allegedly involved in a high-speed chase. Suspected narcotics, which later tested positive for meth, were found in Brant’s clothing, a bill of particulars alleged.

For the failure to appear charge, Brant was accused of failing to attend a pretrial hearing for the meth possession case in Highland County Common Pleas Court in November.

The indictment for the theft charge accused Brant of “knowingly obtaining and exerting control over” a vehicle without its owner’s consent last June.

At a sentencing hearing March 26, Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Brant to three years of community control. She was ordered to successfully complete residential treatment and aftercare. In the theft case, Brant was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
