Correction
In a Page 1 headline in the Sept. 21 HCP print edition, "County property tax increases expected to average 30 percent," the word "valuation" was omitted by the publisher, not the author of the story. The story itself is correct and reflects the increase in valuation.
As previously reported, in the Aug. 28, 2024 HCP, According to County Auditor Alex Butler, average increases in value for each category include:
• Residential property, a 30-percent increase;
• Agriculture property, a 36-percent increase;
• Commercial property, a 43-percent increase; and
• Industrial property, a 27-percent increase.
And as reported in the Sept. 12, 2024 HCP: Residential properties in Highland County will see an average 30-percent increase in valuation, as discussed last month.
The publisher regrets the error.
