Greenfield Historical Society hosts History Day Saturday, Oct. 7

Greenfield Historical Society will hold it annual History Day on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The event will be held in the area around the Grain & Hay building on North McArthur Way.
Plans for the event are still coming together but so far there will be new displays in the Grain & Hay featuring the Dunlap Pony Farm and Spring Grove Dairy. In the Smith Tannery, will be a display of the society’s vintage clothing. Tom Adams’s display of Greenfield Through the Years in the B&O Depot will be on display as well as the Wilson Conestoga Wagon, Ahrens-Fox firetruck and buggies in the barnyard.
Tom Smith will be set up in the barnyard sharing a Patterson buggy or two. A display of vintage autos owned by local collectors is also planned for the barnyard.
As in past History Days, Mike and Kathy Mincey will be on hand demonstrating cider making. Their free samples are always popular. Jayne Honnold will be showing her quilt making skills. Nancy Crawford will also be on hand sharing their crafting skills.
The barnyard will be the location of an attic sales area for visitors to find bargains. If you are interested in setting up a table to sell baked goods, craft items or other items, space rental is $10, and you don’t need to make a reservation. Just show up after 9 a.m. and set up.
Wendy Royse will be sharing her knowledge about the Wilson Conestoga Wagon. Susan Long will present organ recitals in the Smith Tannery during the day.
Food for the day will include Chris Dodds’s smoked pork loin, bean soup and cornbread, hot dogs, desserts and drinks.
