George H. Beatty

George H. Beatty, 76, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, June 9, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe. 

He was born Feb. 21, 1947 in Greenfield, the son of the late Howard Richard and Catherine Ann Ellenberger Beatty. 

George was a 1965 graduate of Edward Lee McClain High School, where he was on the football and track teams. George was a farmer and was a retired school bus driver for the Greenfield Exempted School District. He opened the doors of his bus for many kids in the 40 years he drove. George was a member of the Bainbridge Church of Christ. His three children have many fond memories and stories of the times spent with their dad fishing and hunting. 

George married the former Margene Brown on Jan. 29, 1965, and she survives. Also surviving are their three children, Loretta Hurley of Greenfield, Brian (Jessa) Beatty of Greenfield and Angela (Paul Wisecup) Beatty of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Derek and Cody Hurley, Shayna and Cullen Beatty, and Raine and Alaina Wisecup; one great-grandchild, Zane Hurley; two nieces, Anna Beatty and Tracy Cokonougher; three nephews, Curtis and Craig Cokonougher and Adam Brown; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Cokonougher. 

George was preceded in death by one sister, Martha J. Beatty; an infant brother, Roy Lee Beatty; one son-in-law, Andrew B. Hurley; his in-laws, Carl and Beatrice Brown; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Brown.  

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14 at the Anderson-Ebright Funeral Home in Greenfield with Troy Villars officiating. Burial will be in the Bainbridge Cemetery. George’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
