The Southern Ohio Educational Service Center (SOESC) is pleased to announce Heith Brown as the new Highland County Director of Workforce Development.
A Hillsboro High School graduate, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and accomplished educator and business professional, Brown brings a wealth of experience and leadership to this pivotal role.
Brown served six years in the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant, completing two overseas tours. Following his military service, he earned a bachelor of science degree in athletic administration from Liberty University’s School of Business. With experience spanning business and project management, as well as middle and high school education in business, religion and math, Brown is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between education and workforce readiness.
Under Brown’s leadership, the Highland County Workforce Development Program is spearheading several innovative projects:
• Aptitude Assessments: All five public school districts in Highland County are now utilizing at least one version of an aptitude assessment to help guide students toward their career goals.
• Internship Program Development: Focused on securing new funding services, researching untapped resources and building partnerships with local businesses and community and state agencies.
Looking ahead, Brown aims to expand the Workforce Development Program with initiatives such as:
• Career Exposure Tours with local businesses.
• Career and Internship Fairs.
• Teacher Externships to provide firsthand industry experience.
• Elementary and middle school career exploration opportunities.
• Development of a Highland County Workforce Development Website to communicate resources, programs and opportunities.
• Exploration of apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship program feasibility.
“I am honored to join SOESC and lead workforce development efforts in Highland County,” Brown said. “By collaborating with local businesses, schools and community organizations, we can empower our students and adult learners with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in today’s competitive workforce.”
SOESC is proud to support Heith Brown as he cultivates dynamic partnerships and innovative solutions for workforce development in Highland County.
