Hillsboro High School has announced the following students of the month for April.
• Math Department: Kaylin Branscom. Kaylin works hard to continually succeed in honors geometry. She is always willing to help others. She stays engaged, asking questions and participates often. Kaylin is a bright student with nothing less than the best coming her way in the future.
• English Department: Aidan Campbell. Aidan is always respectful and genuinely cares about others. He is an excellent writer and is not afraid to take creative risks, which regularly pay off. He is actively involved in a variety of groups, reflecting his diverse interests, his leadership skills and his ability to get along with anyone. Aidan has my vote if he runs for president one day.
• Science Department: Chloe Roberts. Chloe is just the best. She has worked so hard this year in senior chemistry and has been nothing if not diligent in her effort to understand and succeed in this difficult class. She helps build up her classmates, asks wonderful questions and is cheerful through it all. I would take a class full of Chloe Robertses any day.
• Social Studies Department: Max Castellanos. Max is one of the kindest and most respectful students I have ever had. I have never heard him say a negative word about anything, and he always offers a kind word whenever I see him. On top of that, he’s a great role model in class. He stays on task, is engaged and is the one that keeps the team focused during group work.
• Electives Department: Boston Sanborn. Boston is a very respectful young man and role model for his peers. He picks up on things pretty quickly, and when he doesn’t understand or wants to know more, he will always speak up and ask questions. He always brings positivity to the class.
• Intervention Department: Summer Peterson. Summer is always eager to learn and works diligently on all assignments. She has excelled academically and serves as a positive support to her classmates. Keep up the hard work and determination, Summer.
• Agriculture/Welding Department: Jacob Seaman. Jacob shows a great willingness to help others in class who may be struggling with the assignment.
• Student Services Department: Mary McKenzie. Mary is always willing to help in a time of need during the school day, especially with technology needs.
Gifts for the students of the month were sponsored by the Ivory Grande Event Center.
