On Feb. 19, eight of our FFA members competed in the District Public Speaking contest at Miami Trace High School.
After making it through the Sub-District contest these members put in extra time and effort to memorize their speeches and practice questions.
Abriann Anderson, Blair Gard and Brooklyn Parker all competed in the creed speaking category where they were required to memorize the FFA Creed, present it before judges, and answer questions.
Ann Boyd and Briann Foxx both competed in the Beginning Prepared contest where they wrote and memorized a 5-7 minute speech to present before judges and answer questions. Grace Allen and Claire Winkle competed in the Advanced Prepared Category where they wrote and memorized a 6-8 minute speech, presented it before a panel of judges, and answered questions related to their topic. Grace placed second and qualified for the state contest.
Adalyn Gaines participated in the Extemporaneous category where she was given a random topic to research and prepare a speech in 30 minutes. She then presented her speech before judges and answered questions. Adalyn placed second and qualified for State.
Congratulations to all of our participants.
