The Hillsboro City Schools Board of Education made several employment approvals during a one-minute special meeting Wednesday, June 24.

The board approved special education supervisor Miranda Wright for a one-year contract (step 4); teacher Jacob Bice for a one-year contract; paraprofessional Savannah Gragg; and supplemental contracts for first-quarter weight room supervisor Ben Miller and HS girls tennis coach Matthew Schneider.

In a separate motion, also approved were changes of status from Candace Baker, non-public summer tutor, from aide pay of $20 per hour to teacher pay of $45 per hour; and Tabatha Beverly, cook, from step 0 to step 6, effective with the 2026-27 school year.

“As of now, all of our positions are filled that we are planning to do,” superintendent Tim Davis said.

After the meeting adjourned, Davis also told the board that the district is weighing options for their school resource officer for the 2026-27 school year. Their current officer, Zach Burnett, has been serving the district for several years through a memorandum of understanding with the Hillsboro Police Department. However, according to Davis, the HPD is dealing with staffing shortages and will be unable to provide a full-time officer for the upcoming academic year.
