Highland County TAG students tour Virginia landmarks

Highland County’s Talented & Gifted (TAG) students recently experienced Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown Settlement, Berkeley Plantation and Monticello in Virginia on their annual TAG field trip.  

The 28 fifth- eighth-graders and six chaperones toured Colonial Williamsburg with stops at the Capitol, Shields Tavern and trade shops & exhibit buildings along the Duke of Glouchester Street.  

Students also toured Jamestown Settlement, the gardens, museum, monuments and home at historic Berkeley Plantation, as well as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.

Students attending from Fairfield Local Schools were: Pierce Abbott, Weston Baldwin, Vinny Ballard, Brya Fauber, Jaxton Heard, Bobby Keirns, Laural McCoy, Nolan McCoy, Davis McKenzie, Riley Naylor, Roman Russell, Addison Stanfield, Timmy Thuering and Cameron VanDyke.

Greenfield Middle School was represented by Wyatt Bobbitt, Lyndi Cockerill, Graycelenn Fillmore, Phoebe Murphy and Silas Soards.

Students from Hillsboro City Schools were Rush Abernathy, Levi Carroll, Braydn Coates, Blaine Gard, Kyson Greer and Regan Wharton.

Lynchburg-Clay students who attended were Paisley Donley, Emily Drake and Colton Grabill.

Chaperones for the trip were Mr. Michael Donley, Mr. Chad Walls, Dr. Kesia McCoy, Mrs. Elena Cullom and Mrs. Rachel Soards.

The trip was coordinated and chaperoned by Kimberly Douglas, School & Student Services Coordinator for the Southern Ohio Educational Service Center, in conjunction with Debbie Bowling, agent for Martin School Travel, Lexington, Ky.
