Dixie Lee (Ball) Hooper

Dixie Lee (Ball) Hooper, 82, of Washington Court House, formerly of Dresden, passed away Aug. 22, 2023, four days shy of her 83rd birthday.

Dixie was born Aug. 26, 1940 in Zanesville to the late Porter and Daynee (Melvin) Ball.

She had retired from the Brockway Glass company in Zanesville. Dixie was a longtime 4-H adviser in Muskingum County and also retired as the Madison Township clerk.

For many years, Dixie spent her weekends as a vendor at the various craft shows around Ohio. She always had a knack for what would be popular that season. Dixie had a way of welcoming people into her home and truly cared for others. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Sherri) Hooper of Leesburg; daughter-in-law, Bernadine Hooper of Van Wert; grandchildren, Sydney Hooper, Ava Hooper and Tiffani (Nick) Mihm; great-grandchildren, Dancia Taylor and Braxton Mihm; and sisters, Sharee (Larry) Wollard and Jan Ball.

Along with her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, in 2019; a son, Klayton Hooper; and brothers, Jim, John, Jerry and Jack Ball.

Cremation will take place with no formal service as requested by the deceased. Roberts Funeral Home is caring for the family.
