David W. 'Squeak' Henderson

He was born Feb. 27, 1938 in Hillsboro, the son of the late George and Mildred (Polk) Henderson.
Squeak was a 1956 graduate of New Vienna High School and a retired firefighter after more than 50 years of service with the New Vienna Fire Department. He also served six years in the Ohio National Guard. He was an active member of the New Vienna United Methodist Church, member of the I.O.O.F., member of the Grange, won the Clinton County Tractor Pull in 1959 and had been the grand marshal of the New Vienna Buzzard Glory Day Parade.

He had worked for Bernard’s Turkey Farm, hauled grain and had worked for Clinton County Iron and Metal and Buckeye Molding driving a semi, sold produce and Christmas trees and had worked as a delivery driver for Engine House Pizza. He owned and operated Henderson Trucking and Henderson Sealing and Paving and finished his working career at the age of 80 still driving a dump truck all over Highland and Clinton County hauling dirt and stone.
He enjoyed socializing at McDonald’s, Knauff Sales and Schuler Homes. Squeak loved to talk with and tease everyone; he never met a stranger. He enjoyed vacationing with family in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. In younger years, he enjoyed traveling to see family in Missouri, Nebraska and Florida. In his retirement, he loved to go for rides; it didn’t matter the destination, he just loved the ride. More than anything, he was the best husband, Dad, Papa, Great Papa, brother and uncle. He loved and adored his family.
