Daniel Smith, 27, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 19, 2023.

Daniel was born Feb. 10, 1996 in Wilmington, where he grew up and spent his time with family and friends.

He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He enjoyed working on cars with his dad and grandpa, who were his best friends, and spoiling his niece.

Daniel had a very outgoing personality and was always there for a good laugh at your expense or his. No matter the circumstances, if anyone needed anything, he would be there without hesitation. We want everyone to remember the good that Daniel brought to this world through his thoughtfulness, his love for life and jokester nature.

Surviving are his parents, Carliss Jr. and Cheri Smith of Wilmington; brother, Brandon Smith; sister, Rebecca Smith; niece, Shirley Clifton; paternal grandfather, Carliss Ray Smith Sr. of Wilmington; maternal grandparents, Tom and Ruth Armstrong of Missouri; aunts and uncles, Rhonda (Mark) Bond, JoAnna (Aaron) Powell, Michael (Shaunda) Smith, Kim Armstrong Speaight, Susan (Clinton) Smalley, Shane (Lori) Armstrong and Chad (Shanda) Armstrong; and many cousins.

Daniel was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Betty JoAnn Smith.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 31, 2023 at 4:30 p.m. at the Wilmington Assembly of God, 609 W. Locust St., Wilmington, with Pastor John Wirmel officiating. Following the service, the church will be providing a dinner for all friends and family.
