Charles R. Morgan, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 22, 2023 at his home. 
 
He was born Dec. 7, 1929 in Dayton, the son of the late John Wesley and Beryl Beatrice (Streber) Morgan.

On July 22, 1950, he married Ruby (Wise) Morgan.
 
Charles graduated from Whiteoak High School class of 1949. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion. Charles was an avid hunter and good carpenter.
 
Surviving are his loving wife of 73 years, Ruby E. Morgan; four children, John (Lynn) Morgan, Jacqueline (Forest) Greenwood, Jeffrey Morgan and Joan (Jeff) Wiley; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Morgan and Norma Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his four brothers, Harold, Herschel, Forest and Thomas Morgan.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro. Interment will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery, Belfast, where the Highland County Honor Guard and United States Marine Corps Honor Guard will accord full military honors.
 
Friends will be received Thursday from noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

RUBY, I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR OF CHARLES' PASSING. HE WAS MY FAVORITE COUSIN OF ALL TIME. I AM SO SORRY THAT I CAN NOT ATTED THE FUNERAL AND PAY MY LAST RESPECTS TO HIM AND THE FAMILY. MY HUSBAND, CLIFF, WAS TAKEN TO BETHESDA HOSP JUST ABOUT AN HOUR AGO.
PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY FOR NOT ATTENDING BUT IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES, I SIMPLY COULD NOT. MY HEART AND THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO YOU AND THE FAMILY....
