Barbara L. Henson

Barbara L. Henson, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Hospice of Hope – Ohio Valley, Seaman.

She was born Sept. 19, 1929 in Frankfort, the daughter of the late Howard and Betty Miller Blue.

She married her husband, Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Henson Sr., on Aug. 16, 1949, and he preceded her in death Nov. 17, 2013. 

Barbara was a 1947 graduate of Frankfort High School. She retired as a secretary with AEP. She also supported her husband, Joe, in his ministry with the United Methodist Church. She attended the Leesburg Trinity Church. Barbara had been a member of the former Concord Chapter 520, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer L. Ward of Washington C.H.; one son, Joseph E. Henson II of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her two sisters, Beverly Clyne and June Clark; and her one brother, Monty “Pete” Blue.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Rich Allen officiating in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. No calling hours will be held. The Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution can be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, Ky. 41056. Donations can be made online through their website, Hospiceofhope.com.
