Andrew Gunderman, 22, was recently named to the National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council as the youngest member in history.

NSBA is the nation’s oldest small-business advocacy organization and operates on a staunchly nonpartisan basis. Gunderman, a recognized leader in the business and startup community in the Midwest, joins the NSBA Leadership Council alongside other advocates from across the country as they work to promote the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

“As a business owner, especially of a highly regulated firm, it is incredibly important to work together with politicians to advance business interests. This is a major part of business that most entrepreneurs forsake or simply don’t have the resources to participate in,” Gunderman said. “Joining the NSBA’s Leadership Council allows me to work directly with Congress as a voice for these businesses.”

Andrew was born in Hillsboro and attended Ohio State University. He started Coherence Finance, one of the first SEC-regulated social crypto investing apps in the United States, while in university and dropped out after raising venture capital from Drive Capital, the largest VC firm between the coasts. After moving to Chicago, he founded GENESIS, which has grown to become one of the largest communities of Gen Z entrepreneurs in the Midwest.

Gunderman was noticed by NSBA for his work building GENESIS and joined the NSBA Leadership Council as part of his efforts to tackle the many critical issues facing small businesses and young entrepreneurs from a policy perspective. The NSBA Leadership Council is focused on providing valuable networking between small-business advocates from across the country while ensuring small business a seat at the table as Congress and regulators take up key small-business proposals.

“I am proud to have Andrew as part of our Leadership Council,” stated NSBA President and CEO Todd McCracken. “He was highly recommended and is beyond impressive for his age.”
