Allen C. Haines, 76, of Anderson Township passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2023.
He was born Sept. 6, 1947 to Edgar and Lois Haines.
Allen graduated from Blanchester High School in 1965, followed by a degree at the University of Cincinnati. He then enlisted in the Army, graduating from OCS 51ST Co. 26-70 at Fort Benning, Ga. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War as a lieutenant.
Afterward, he settled in Hillsboro and joined the family business. Allen was a member of many organizations, including Jaycees and Rotary Club. He also spent many years helping with the Highland County Society for Children and Adults' yearly telethon, served on the Hillsboro City Council, and in recent years, the Army’s OCS Alumni Board. He was an avid bridge player and looked forward to his weekly games.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine (Kris) Kees of Cincinnati; a son, Brian Haines of Cincinnati; a brother, Robert (Carole) Haines of Blanchester; and grandchildren, Nico and Elaine Kees.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Elaine T. Haines; and two siblings.
There will be a graveside service at noon Friday, Oct. 13 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, with a reception and refreshments to follow at deSha’s at 11320 Montgomery Road until 4 p.m. Gilligan Funeral Homes is serving the family.
Memorials may be made to Highland County Society for Children and Adults.

I'm so sorry to hear of Allen's death. Allen and I were both on the OCS Alumni Association Board of Directors. I appreciated his commitment to the organization and to his fellow veterans.
