    Mustangs top Wildcats to win Wilkin Memorial Scholarship Tournament

    This year, the Wilkin Memorial Scholarship Tournament belongs to the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs. The Mustangs, after a slow first half, controlled the final two quarters for a 48-35 non-league victory over the Whiteoak Wildcats for the regular-season sweep against WHS. In their first meeting on Dec. 16 at WHS, the Mustangs topped the Wildcats 60-53.

    Seip, Wildcats slam CNE
    A third-quarter rush of points and defense, along with multiple slam dunks by junior Doc Seip, were more than enough for the Whiteoak Wildcats on Thursday evening in the opener of the 2011-12 Wilkin Scholarship Tournament. WHS used their second half to break away for a 66-50 victory against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets.

    Being the away team on their home court in the final game of the 2011-12 SCOL-SHL Challenge made no difference to the Hillsboro Indians. Wearing their away red jerseys, the Indians led after each of the four quarters played for a 81-58 win against Highland County rival Whiteoak, Friday.

    The McClain Lady Tigers traveled to Hillsboro and conquered the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats on Wednesday evening. The game was in Hillsboro for the 7th Annual Highland County Girls Basketball Shootout, as MHS won by a score of 51-15.

There was physical play in the paint, tough pressure defense and for good measure possibly an elbow or two, and one intentional foul as the Mustangs crashed the Wildcats' homecoming festivities 60-53.
