DODSONVILLE — This past Friday and Saturday, the Lynchburg-Clay boys soccer teams split matches with a 2-0 Saturday loss to the Georgetown G-Men and a 3-0 win Friday against the North Adams Green Devils.

The results from those two matches put the Mustangs 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the Southern Hills League.

On Saturday, the G-Men scored with 23:45 left in the first half with Brandon Tucker beating a LC defender for the goal and 1-0 lead.

The second goal from the G-Men came with 38:40 left in the second half with Austin Carrington beating the LC defense.

Georgetown out-shot the Mustangs 16-14 as LC keeper Matthew West finished with six saves and Layne Lucas of Georgetown had eight saves.

"This was our worst effort of the year," LC coach Dennis West said. "Georgetown is much improved from last year. We were out of sync on offense and defense and suffered the loss as a result."

On Friday, the Mustangs won by three goals against the North Adams Green Devils, as all three goals came in the first half.

"This was a good performance after the tough loss to Eastern Brown (Wednesday)," West said. "Everyone got a chance to contribute, and this was a good league win."

The first LC goal came with 35:38 remaining in the opening half with Mason Jordan scoring off a cross kick by Gage Waits.

Alex Pinkerton made it a 2-0 score with a goal with help from a cross kick by Chaz Lanier.

The final LC goal came with .57 seconds remaining in the first half with Wes Pierson scoring off a through pass from Andrew Chaney.

LC outshot the visiting Green Devils, 36-10.

Matthew West finished with nine saves for LC.
