Lady Patriots defeat OU-Lancaster
LANCASTER – With 10 players reaching the scoring column Wednesday night against OU-Lancaster, the Southern State Lady Patriots gained another win this season, defeating OU-L by one-point at 73-72.
The SSCC Lady Patriots trailed by five points after the first half.
In the opening 20 minutes OU-L hit two 3-pointers, and 14 two-point baskets. They were 5 of 7 from the foul line in the first half.
As for the victorious Lady Patriots in the first half, Ashlee Liston sank a 3-pointer. SSCC had another 3-point basket in the half from Caitlin Davis.
Kayla Seip made six baskets in the first half. Also scoring in the first half for SSCC were Skye Lucas, Kelsey Juillerat, Leslie Shumaker and Hannah Gobin. SSCC made a total of 26 field goals in the first half, while going 8 of 13 from the free-throw line.
In the second half, Liston came back with her second 3-pointer of the game. Liston ended the game with nine points.
Jessica Sexton sank two 3-pointers in the second half alone to finish the game with eight points.
SSCC was led by Seip with 18 points. Seip made seven shots from the floor and was 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Gobin and Juillerat each netted eight points for the Lady Patriots in the win. Gobin was 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Davis scored seven points for SSCC, while Shumaker and Kristi Beasley each earned six points. Lucas finished with two points and Taylor Jodrey sank a free-throw.
In the second half, SSSC went 10 of 12 in foul shooting, finishing the contest 18 of 25. The Lady Patriots made a total of five 3-pointers.
SSCC outscored OU-Lancaster in the final 20 minutes 39-33.
OU-Lancaster was led by Cordle with 16 points.
