Lady Lions fall to Manchester
MANCHESTER – Allowing the Manchester Lady Greyhounds to gain double figures in all four quarters, mixed with 26 turnovers, the Fairfield Lady Lions were forced into their second loss of the season falling 56-45 Thursday night.
Manchester had scoring quarters of 18, 13, 10 and 15. Fairfield was held to six points scored in the second and seven points in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Lions (0-1, 0-2) were led by senior Gabby Boone with 19 points. Boone shot 50 percent from the field (8 of 16) and was 3 of 5 from the free-throw line. The senior grabbed 11 rebounds, including seven defensive. Boone also had three blocks and one assist.
Senior Lauren Bowman gained nine points in the loss. Bowman connected with three 3-pointers. She also had seven rebounds, all defensive.
FHS junior Megan Sword finished with 10 points. She was 8 of 14 from the free-throw line. The junior gained eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block.
Senior Sadie Jones ended the game with one 3-pointer. Jones grabbed a total of six rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Kortney Paris and Serenity Smith each scored two points.
As a team the Lady Lions were 11 of 19 from the free-throw line. FHS grabbed a total of 34 rebounds (24 defensive).
FHS will play again Saturday, Dec. 5 as they will travel to Hillsboro as take on their county rival at 6:30 p.m. at HHS.
