During the month of July, the Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church held vacation Bible school, with the theme Camp Firelight. The church youth worked hard to bring in dimes for KAMP Dovetail, to help those youth offset expenses of going to camp.

The Highland County Board of Health meeting that was originally scheduled for Sept. 19 will be rescheduled due to a scheduling conflict. The new meeting date will be the following Thursday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. 

The Transitions Program of the Workforce & Business Development Program (W&B) at the Community Action Committee of Pike County (CAC) will be hosting a community event, “RISE ABOVE: An Event Celebrating Recovery in Pike County” on Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Pike County Fairgrounds (311 Mill Street, Piketon). This event will focus on uniting the community in celebrating the commitment of those who are continuing their sobriety from Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

Members of the Premier Showmen 4-H Club held their final meeting on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Bohrer Vet Clinic. They enjoyed a potluck dinner and discussed topics to prepare for the Highland County Fair.

Local Blanchester Girl Scout Leader Ida Miller of Troop #45988 entered a contest to try to win a National Park adventure for her troop. Miller has now made it to 20 competitors and would love community folks to cast a free daily vote.

On Saturday, Oct. 5, Adena Regional Medical Center will host the Adena Health Foundation’s Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Walk/Run, with proceeds supporting cancer care across the region through the Adena Health Foundation’s cancer fund.
