    The AAUW-Altrusa book sale was a great success this year, thanks again to its many volunteers and supporters. This annual sale is a joint
    effort of the local American Association of University Women chapter and Altrusa International of Highland County.
  • Garden Club plans holiday activities
    The Hillsboro Garden Club met October 27, 2009 at the Floral Hall on the Highland County Fairgrounds.  President Nancy Baldwin led the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.  Roll call was answered by "What does your garden soil need this fall?" Members agreed compost and fertilizer are always needed.  The Treasurer's report was given and filed for audit.

    The Hillsboro Garden Club 2010 Flower Show committee has announced the artistic design classes for the three Highland County Fair flower shows next year. The theme, Festivals and Fairs, was selected to celebrate local enterprise and entertainment, according to committee chairman Rose Marie Cowdrey.

    Lynchburg is busy preparing for its annual Village Christmas. This marks the 17th year for the event, which is held the second weekend in December. Many village residents open their homes to the public to offer such diverse items as secret family recipe baked goods to arts and craft items made within the village.

  • Local Eagles Club Hosts Poker Run to Benefit Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley
    Eagles riders of the Hillsboro, Ohio Eagles Club #1161 recently conducted a Poker Run with proceeds benefiting Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley. The Event was coordinated by Judy Roberts who has had firsthand experience with Hospice of Hope and the quality end-of life services that were provided to her mother.
